Improving our recruitment processes

As a business, and from speaking to our peers, we see first hand the struggle for resources. Attracting and retaining talent is affecting so many sectors in the UK economy.

In order to educate ourselves, to improve our recruitment processes, and meet our aspirations of providing real social value, X-Net took part in a pilot project in Dorset around DWP’s Disability Confident scheme. In reaching Employer status, we commit to providing an interview to anyone that declares a disability and meets our minimum requirements of the job description. We are open to making reasonable adjustments in the interview process and in employment. We recognise a disability can come later in life too during employment, and the impact of conditions such as the menopause can be overcome with understanding.

As a Disability Confident Employer, one of our commitments is to bring wider awareness to the scheme and urge other employers to join. A disability is more than likely not visible and official figures say 1 in 4 people have a disability of some form.
