John Fishburn BSc


A highly experienced consultant with a proven track record in all aspects of programme, project, portfolio management and business change.

Over the last 35 years he has worked on a variety of major projects and programmes on both the client and supplier side. These have included large and complex systems integration programmes, notably in the secure Government sector; business transformation in Government sectors and at Reuters; Government sector Business Case development; real-time systems for the Met Office and secure Government; and e-commerce systems development.

His roles have extended from strategy definition, business justification, reviews of strategy and direction, technical architectures, structure and organisation through hands-on management responsibility of specific programmes, programme offices, projects and project recovery to the definition and establishment of new business,  supplier evaluations, product development, and project processes.

He has wide range of experience and practical knowledge of IT methodologies and techniques including: MSP; PRINCE 2; requirements gathering; definition; system specification;  development; integration and acceptance; HMT better business case process, cost modelling, commercial practices and the preparation of proposals.

John has sound management, technical and commercial judgement, excellent organisational and motivational skills and is widely respected by both clients and colleagues, with a reputation for getting things done.

John has been continuously involved in IT since 1980, spending 16½ years at Logica and 14 years at Charteris, before joining X-Net as a partner in 2011.
